What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is fermented tea! The beverage has been around for nearly 2,000 years. It was first brewed in China and then spread to Japan and Russia. It became popular in Europe in the early 20th century and now North America.
Kombucha is a fizzy, sweet-and-sour probiotic drink made by fermenting tea with organic cane sugar, and a symbiotic yeast based organism or mushroom called a scoby. It contains tiny traces of alcohol, and caffeine, making it a great probiotic for early afternoon consumption. Drinking Kombucha on a regular basis helps build up “good bacteria” in your digestive tract that are considered helpful for your body and immune system.
What is Water Kefir?
Water Kefir is fermented water! It is fizzy and sweet, think of it as organic flavoured soda water. It contains water, organic non-GMO minerals, organic cane sugar and organic fresh pressed juice. The "scobys" of water kefir are call grains. The gelatinous translucent blobs are a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast. Although they’re called “grains" they are not actual grains and do not contain gluten. It is caffeine free, gluten free and 100% vegan (dairy-free) making this a great after dinner probiotic.
How is it made?
Once the mixture is made and cooled the "scoby" is set into the beverage for up to 2 weeks for Kombucha and 48 hours for Water Kefir. The "scoby" uses up much of the sugar while carrying out fermentation in the mix, good bacteria is able to flourish in the brew; bacteria and acids form in the drink, as well as a very small amount of alcohol is produced. The process is similar to how cabbage is preserved as sauerkraut or kimchi, or how milk is turned into yogurt.
How to order the brew?
$6 for 750ml - standard "wine bottle" - for any organic flavour of Kefir or Kombucha
It is usually safe to consume up to 500ml of raw kombucha or kefir daily.

"work-life balance" workshop
This workshop - 1.5 hours long - is designed to get people thinking of "work-life balance" in a new way.
Life. Balance. Work.
It starts off with a short survey, which address the key elements of balance: sleep, nutrition, family / friends, fitness, emotion, spirit, & intellect.
Followed by a 30-40 minute presentation on personal development, intention setting, focus, and strategies to help balance, de-stressing, improve health and progressing in a positive direction. The later portion of the presentation gives practical yogic lifestyle hacks to implement in the present, and help work towards balance in the body, mind and lifestyle.
A yogic practice can help improve all of the elements of balance, while helping to enhance performance, de-stress, improve physical & mental health, help with personal development and assist in self-exploration.
Guidance and information on:
This final portion of the presentation will physically lead participant through a few simple yoga poses, guided breathing exercises and easy meditation to ensure everyone understands the concepts and feels comfortable implementing them on their own time.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions throughout the workshop, and a final group discussion is to ensure no questions go un answered and new ideas can be shared.
